Natural Hair... WORKOUT!

Natural Hair... WORKOUT!

This weeks haircare tip is actually a regimen, for those that workout or plan to be swimming this summer. After working out, the sweat in your scalp can cause an imbalance in your pH, which can lead to dry scalp, oily scalp or dandruff. For my swimmers, chlorine can strip your hair natural oils which will lead to dry hair and breakage. It can also weaken your hair strands. Check out this regimen to achieve and maintain healthy hair:

Step #1 Weekly Swim/Workout Preparation: On your wash day give your hair the works!! I’m talking shampoo, deep conditioner, leave-in, and styler. This is the longest part of your regimen and the most critical part because remember our tresses won’t receive this much hydration again for the next 7-10 days

Step #2 Preparation Before Swim/Workout: Before swimming, ESPECIALLY if you plan to swim daily, wear a swim cap!!! Before working out wear a workout headband and push your hair back away from your face. This is a great way to prevent sweat from frizzing your hair.

Step #3 Post Swim/Workout: After swimming in the pool or at the beach you MUST cleanse your hair if it gets wet. The cleanser I recommend is our Apple Cider Reboot, because it’s a deep cleanser but not as strong as shampoo. So it won’t give your hair a squeaky clean feel but does the job of removing toxins and laying your cuticle (the exterior part of your hair) down.

After working out If you have properly applied your Wash & Go bundle and wear a sports band, you should not experience frizz even after working out. The soft hold our gel gives is created so as to give your hair lasting definition. However, if you work out everyday you should wash your hair no more than every 7 days and do a detox once a month to help balance your scalp.

Step #4 Cleansing Your Hair In-Between Wash Days: For those that prefer to cleanse their hair in between wash days, again I recommend you use a gentler cleanser like the Apple Cider Reboot, which will cleanse and balance your scalp without stripping your hairs natural oils. Step #5 Styling Your Hair Post Swimming or Working Out: Wash and go’s work best if you’re a swimmer or workout often. This will be the quickest and easiest way to style your hair weekly. Post swim/workout, if you do not need to do step 4, you will need to spray your Aloe Vera Refresher ONLY in the areas that have frizz and reapply the gel in those sections of your hair. This should take no more than 15 minutes.

Remember Healthy hair IS possible....but the maintenance, investment, and consistency of a healthy hair regimen rests on you. Take these simple steps and experience the transformation of your tresses in just a couple of weeks Stay well!!!
